Alaskan Coastal Brown Bear with a Deluxe Yacht Option

AK135B-2More Hunts from this outfitter

Hunt Description

Often when one is considering an Alaskan brown bear hunt what comes to mind is Kodiak Island. Though there are great bears on the island, one does not have to hunt there to take a great trophy quality brown bear. The coast of mainland Alaska also offers some fantastic brown bear hunting. This outfitter offers several different hunting options to consider.

Option 1
There is the standard land based hunt package were you are flown into a remote cabin and will hunt out from there each day. You and your guide will be based out of a rustic cabin within easy reach of the glassing areas. Your hunt will be spent glassing for a large bear and when one is found, a stalk planned. Jet boats on the rivers may also be utilized to access areas deeper into the Alaskan wilderness. These historically have been highly successful.

Option 2
This outfitter recently acquired a remote yet very comfortable hunting lodge with multiple personal cabins. This luxurious lodge provides all of the modern conveniences one would want. Hot running water, electricity, beds with fresh linens, game room, full kitchen, etc are a standard part of this lodge based hunt. This is a great option for those that may not want to be in a small rustic cabin with the wet conditions southeast Alaska is known for. With this option, you will be flown directly to the lodges private airstrip and and taken via ATV to the lodge compound where you will be assigned one of the private cabins.

Option 3
Then there is a ocean hunt that is based off a 45' seafaring vessel. This option can make for very comfortable accommodations at night and then you will be taken ashore each hunting day. This also opens up hundreds of miles of Alaska shoreline that are otherwise inaccessible. These deluxe yacht accommodations are a great way to conduct a spring hunt when the weather can still be quite cold and wet but allow great mobility.

A spring brown bear hunt along the southeastern coast will usually find the bears up higher on the hillsides searching for new green growth. Prior to the leaves budding out on the trees, these bears can be spotted from a long distance and a stalk planned. On a fall hunt they will typically be down on the river shoreline or even on the beach. Many of the hunters with this outfitter have taken a bear on or near the beach. Healthy runs of silver salmon in September and October also brings the bears off the mountain making them more accessible.

A fall brown bear hunt in this area lends itself very well to a combo hunt for moose, black bear or mountain goat as there are healthy populations of all of these species in the area. See more about these other hunts by clicking the More hunt from this outfitter button above.
