South West NM Trophy Outfitters has been a New Mexico Outfitter and Guide Service within units 12, 13 and 15 for over 20 years. As life time residents of New Mexico, Carlton and Nettie have the knowledge and the expertise to guide you to some of the largest trophy elk that you may ever encounter. In unit 12 they have the leases on 6 different Private Ranch Hunts. So you can rest assured that you will be hunting in areas that the only other hunters that you are going to encounter are those in your own group. Unit 13 is comprised of an area that is totally Wilderness Study Area. In this unit you are only allowed to access it on foot or on horseback. So if you choose to hunt unit 13 make sure that you are in the best of shape. Carlton and Nettie only offer walk-in hunts on this unit so being in good shape is a must. Most of the terrain in unit 13 is easy hiking; however you may be walking many miles by the end of the day. If you have ever hunted in New Mexico then you have heard of unit 15. It is a very large unit with mostly Public land. Over the years it has gained a reputation of being one of the best units in the state for trophy elk. If you are lucky enough to draw one of the coveted tags in unit 15 you can rest assured that you have the opportunity to see some monster bulls. Carlton and Nettie also offer some great hunts for the younger generation. If you have a son or a daughter that wants to hunt elk, contact Carlton for more information.

Carlton and Nettie are very down to earth people and they treat their hunters like family. By being a smaller operation they limit the amount of hunters in each camp to 8 hunters per camp. They are very focused on Quality not Quantity. With the many leases they have on Private Ranches they are able to offer many Private Land Tags. If you?re unable to draw a tag in the lottery draw this year and would still like to hunt for that trophy elk, Carlton and Nettie have these Private Ranch Hunts available. Most of their camps are setup as RV/Tent Camps. However, depending on the area that you are hunting they also have their lodge that is nestled right in the middle of elk country within unit 15. Don?t be surprised to see elk right from the lodge itself. Plan on eating some of the best Southwestern food there is to offer. You will want to return year after year not only for the great hunting, but for food that?s second to none. If you?re in need of supplies for your hunt, Carlton also owns the country store in Quemado. He is stocked with the extra necessities that you need from food to hunting supplies. If you?re looking for a quality Elk Guide in New Mexico, look no further.

Carlton and Nettie have had the privilege to participate in the Outdoor Dream Hunts. These hunts have been offered to our special needs hunters. These hunts are given to the special needs individuals that have a desire to hunt these magnificent animals. Often we think that the only people that want to hunt are those of us that are considered the normal class in the American population. That is totally wrong! There are so many special needs people out there that want to experience a hunt of a lifetime. This program has given them the opportunity to do what many will never do in a lifetime. Carlton and Nettie have had the privilege to participate in several of these hunts for these incredible individuals. If you know of any of these individuals that want to experience a hunt that they will value for the rest of their lives, Carlton and Nettie are the outfitters of choice when it comes to an Outfitter that caters to these special needs.
