Colorado Unit 20 Trophy Bull Elk Hunts
HuntersTrailhead Featured Elk Hunt
CO165E
* Rocky Mountain National Park is in the western portion of Unit 20. Like Yellowstone, Rocky Mountain National Park holds a large population of elk and some of the bulls grow to true trophy quality. Hunts are around the borders of the park as the elk move in and out.
* Tags can be drawn much sooner in unit 20 compared to some of the other trophy units. There are also 2 late season hunts that have awesome potential. One late hunt is in December and the other is in January.
* Early season hunts (archery and muzzleloader) can be based out of the high country camps while later hunts are based out of a modern lodge. Horses are used to access the high country and are also available for the later season hunts as well.
* Most elk taken will score 320 to 340 range with some pushing above 350. A number of 380+ bulls have been taken with this outfitter.
* The high country hunts are guided 1x1 unless arranged otherwise. The lodge hunts are guided 2x1 unless other arrangements are requested.
* This are also some options in unit 29 for some self guided/drop camp hunts. You will be packed into the high country via horseback to an established camp. These drop camps include a tent, tables, chairs, lights, cooking utensils, wood stoves, propane stoves, fire wood, drinking water, bear proof containers (for food), and a latrine. Hunters will be responsible to provide their own food, sleeping bag and personal equipment.
