The Noatak National Preserve is the setting for this highly successful grizzly bear hunt. This outfitter owns the exclusive outfitting rights to a portion of this preserve set 100 miles north of the Arctic Circle. We love this hunt as it also provides hunters with an opportunity to experience a true Alaskan Wilderness along with a high probability of taking a trophy quality grizzly bear. The Noatak Preserve is one of the most remote areas of the state and experiences minimal human activity. This outfitter is an authorized concessionaire within the Noatak National Preserve (U.S. National Park Service) with a Commercial Use Authorization for the Noatak River area.

Grizzly bear tags are no longer on a drawing basis here. Tags can be purchased on line or upon arrival in Alaska. Due to the remoteness of this hunting area, few resident Alaskans expend the effort to get here. High populations of large grizzlies frequent the area. Most of these hunts occur in late August and early September. With daily temperatures ranging from around 30 to 45 degrees it is comfortable hunting and has the bears with top quality hides.

Though these bears are considered interior grizzlies, they are frequently much larger due to the annual salmon runs that occur in this part of the state. Bears squaring over 8 feet are not uncommon and hunters with this outfitter have enjoyed a 100% success rate on trophy quality bears for the past several years.

The outfitter is a retired airline captain and also flies his own bush planes. A piper super cub will be in camp for relocations as needed, emergency needs or early departure (when possible).
