Hunt Description {Details Go Here}
When it comes to giant brown bear, this area of Alaska is considered to be the big bear capitol. The biggest bears in the world are taken from the Alaska Peninsula south of the Katmai National Park. Bears squaring out over 10 feet are not out of the question here. Your objective on this hunt should be at least 9 foot.
The hunting area accessed by this outfitter is made up of Refuge lands as well as Native lands and he is the only outfitter permitted to hunt these areas. From the Pacific Ocean on one side across the peninsula and nearing the Bering Sea on the other, you have thousands of square miles of exclusive hunting options. With such lite hunting pressure, the bears can grow to exceptional sizes out here.
Hunting methods will vary depending on which season you are hunting. Bears are hunted in the fall on odd numbered years and in the spring on even numbered years. If you choose a fall hunt, hunting will be centered around food sources such as salmon streams, berry patches and foraging on the beaches. A spring hunt will consist of lots of glassing searching for the big boars emerging from their dens that begin to search for breeding opportunities of a receptive sow. A fall bear is generally larger due to it being bulked up for the winter but their hides are typically thinner but unrubbed. A spring bear may be a bit smaller is weight as he has just been underground for many months. Typically his hide is much fuller but could be a little rubbed.
The outfitter and some of his guides are experienced and licensed pilots. They own and operate their own planes and will do all the flying from the village out to one of their many hunting camps and back.
