Hunt Description
Extreme northern Manitoba holds adventure, solitude and a very healthy population of Canadian Moose. This area is so remote, few humans make it out this far, and those that do are typically hunting moose or caribou. This lodge limits their moose hunters to only 4 per year insuring that the quality and high success rate is maintained. With a providence population estimated to be in excess of 20,000, you can be assured that there are plenty of moose in the area.
Hunters are flown from Thompson Manitoba into the lodge where they will meet their guide and get organized for the next day's hunt. The remainder of this first day can be spent relaxing in the lodge, shotgunning for ptarmigan, fishing for northern pike and/or lake trout or in some cases, get an early jump on the moose hunt itself.
Bull moose with antlers spreading to near 50 inches and often beyond that the objective and quite common. Bulls exceeding 55 inches are not out of the questions. Your host and his guides will have been scouting the area for weeks ahead of your arrival and will have a very good idea on the type of moose available. Most hunting is done on foot but boats on the lakes and streams as well as ATV's are also available. Also, since you are hunting during the September/October moose rut, calling the bulls out of the forest and into range is a very effective tactic employed on this hunt.
