Ponderosa Outfitters and Guide Service is a family operated Colorado Outfitter and Guide Service offering fully guided, semi-guided and do-it-yourself hunts in northern Colorado. They have been operating their outfit in unit 161 for over 20 years and in that time have developed an extensive knowledge of the animals being hunted and the terrain in which they live. Whether you are looking for an elk guide, deer guide, moose guide or a pronghorn guide, they work hard to tailor a hunt to fit your hunting goals and objectives. They take great pride in what they do and would rather decline a hunt than provide a substandard experience.

Ponderosa Outfitters operates hunts for elk, deer, moose, and pronghorn within the boundaries of unit 161 and some additional pronghorn hunt opportunities are available in units 6, 16 and 87. All of these areas are accessible from the roads and their camps are accessed via 4x4. One might think that because they operate near the road, their success rate would be much lower than other outfits. This assumption would be incorrect. Bruce and his guides have been able to maintain a success rate that would rival any other public land outfitter and the quality of animal taken by their clients is as good as any taken from these units. Their hunters have taken some very respectable bull elk and some giant mule deer and pronghorn. Most deer permits are obtained via the annual drawing, however, some elk and pronghorn permits are available over the counter and can be purchased before going into camp. Bruce and his son Kevin also offer some unsurpassed waterfowl hunting on several private leases in Colorado and Kansas.
